What a guard actually does.
A guard is only sent if Guard Cover is on, and only after the control room has called you first. If you confirm you need help, or you don't answer, the nearest available guard is on the way.
Goes to where you are
To your live location, or the address at home. You don’t have to explain where you are.

A uniformed, licensed guard arriving is often enough to make someone think twice.
Checks on you
Finds you, asks if you're OK and helps with what's in front of them.
Gets you more help
If needed, the control room calls the emergency services. A call confirmed by a guard on site carries more weight.

Someone who knows your streets
Guard Cover is delivered by independent, licensed local security companies, using guards who already work in your area. Their job is to show up, check on you and provide a visible presence when it matters.
Guards aren't police, but they are trained, vetted professionals.
In the UK, every guard holds a Security Industry Authority (SIA) licence. To get one, they need:
Identity and criminal record checks
Training, including first aid
Regular licence renewal
If more help is needed, the control room can pass on information confirmed on site to the emergency services.

No. If an alarm is raised, a licensed guard is sent to your home or to where you are. A guard can help, but can’t guarantee that nothing will happen.
Yes, for now. At launch, if you need a guard during your cover, sending one costs nothing extra. You pay £3.49 for a trip On the Go or £6.49 for 24 hours at home, and that’s it. If this ever changes, you’ll see it before you buy, and it won’t change for cover you’ve already bought.
