Getting started
A personal safety app. Set a time you'll be back. If you don't check in, the people you chose (your Circle) are pulled into one alarm chat with your live location. If you've added Guard Cover, a licensed local guard can be sent too.
Yes. The app, your Circle, the check-in timer, home alarms and every alert are free, anywhere in the world. You only pay for Guard Cover, when you want a guard.
The people who'd actually do something if you didn't get home: a flatmate, a close friend, a partner, a parent. Two or three people who are usually reachable at night is better than ten who aren't.
Invite them from your Circle in the app. They'll need the app installed to be pulled into an alarm chat and see your live location.
The free features work in any country. Guard Cover is only offered where a licensed local partner covers the area. See coverage
On the Go
Open On the Go and set the time you'll be back (for example, “check in until 22:50”. If you like, add a note and choose whether to tell your Circle you've set off. Add Guard Cover if you want it, and start. When you're back, tap I'm OK.
A soft reminder appears a few minutes before your check-in time. If you still haven't checked in when it expires, an alarm is raised. Your Circle is added to a shared alarm chat with your live location, straight away.
If you've added Guard Cover, the response partner's control room is notified separately. They call you first. If there's no answer, a licensed guard is sent. You can stand the guard down on that call.
Only if you want them to. You choose with the Tell your Circle switch when you start a trip.

On: your Circle gets a message when you set off, and another when you check in. Good for the nights someone would otherwise text “let me know when you're home”: they know you've left, and they know you've arrived, without either of you having to remember.
Off: nobody hears a thing unless something goes wrong. Good for everyday trips, or when you'd rather keep your plans to yourself.
Either way, if you miss your check-in, your Circle is alerted. The switch only changes the messages on the way; it never turns off the alarm.
Yes. Tap +10 min as many times as you need. With Guard Cover, a trip can last up to 6 hours in total.
The timer runs on our servers, not on your phone. If your check-in time passes without a check-in, for any reason, the alarm is still raised. That includes a flat battery or no signal.
If you know you'll be somewhere without signal when time's up, like the Underground, add time before you go.
At home
Your Household is the people who live there. Any of them can raise a home alarm. Your Circle is the people who'd come round. They don't live there, but they're told the moment there's an alarm, with the address.
From the app, or from a connected smart-home device or routine.
Yes, through a webhook. A door sensor, a camera, a smoke alarm or a button by the bed can raise a home alarm from Home Assistant, Apple Home, Homey, Hubitat, UniFi Protect or anything that can send a web request. See how to set up webhooks.
Yes. Add their home and you're automatically part of its Household. Then add your parents to the Household too, so they can raise the alarm themselves. Choose a Circle you know will respond. If an alarm is raised there, you're told along with the rest of the Household and the Circle, wherever you are. You can switch on Guard Cover for that home too.
Whether someone in the household is home or out. Not where they are.
During the alarm
Everyone in your Circle is pulled into one alarm chat. On the go, they see your live location. At home, they see the address. Everyone in the chat can message each other and see who has joined.
No. That strip shows who has responded to the alarm, not everyone who was told. Everyone in your Circle got the alert; the strip fills up as they respond.
Tap END at the top of the alarm screen when everything's OK. Live location sharing stops.
Close it, and let your Circle know you're fine. If Guard Cover is on, the control room calls you first: stand it down on that call and no guard is sent.
A licensed security guard from an independent local company that already works in your area. In the UK, every guard holds a front-line licence from the Security Industry Authority (SIA), so their identity, criminal record and training have been checked. The nearest available guard is the one who's sent.
We don't promise a time. It depends on where you are and who is available that night. You can follow the guard's arrival in the alarm chat.
They come to where you are: your live location on the go, or the address at home. Everyone in the alarm chat can follow the arrival.
When they get there, they'll find you, check you're OK and help with what's in front of them.
They'll also report back to the control room. If more help is needed, the control room calls the emergency services and passes on what the guard has found. Because that call comes from a licensed guard who has seen the situation in person, it carries more weight than an unconfirmed report.Yes, because you've used it. Guard Cover is the cover for your trip or your day at home: a 24/7 control room and a licensed guard ready the whole time, whether or not a guard needs to come out. Standing it down on the call, or never needing it, is part of that cover, not a reason for a refund. Most nights end without a call-out, and that's the best outcome.
Privacy and safety
Three different things can be shared, and they're not the same.
Whether you're home - to your household, as a small in/out icon. Not where you are.
Where you are - to your Circle, only if an alarm is raised during a Stay With Me timer, or when the timer expires. It ends when you check in..
Where you are - to the response partner, only if a guard is dispatched for a trip, and only for as long as that takes. A Home dispatch goes to your saved address instead.
No. If you are in immediate danger, call your local emergency number first.
MyGuardz is for the moments before it gets that far: when something feels off and you'd rather not be alone with it. For example:
-
someone seems to be following you on the walk home
-
a noise outside at night, when you're home alone
-
a friend didn't get back when they said they would
-
a parent at home isn't answering the phone
A guard on the way, and a Circle that knows, can stop a situation from getting worse. If it does turn into an emergency, the guard can help on site, and the control room can call the emergency services with what the guard has found.
And when you can't make the call yourself: if it isn't safe to speak, your phone is out of reach, or you're hurt, MyGuardz can still raise the alarm for you. A missed check-in starts it on its own. Your Circle is pulled in straight away. With Guard Cover on, the control room calls you, and if you can't answer, a guard is sent.

Account and troubleshooting
Deleting your account removes your profile and your Circle connections. This can't be undone. There are two ways to do it.
1) Delete from the app
The fastest way to delete your account is inside the app.
Go to your Profile → Manage personal details → Delete account (bottom of the screen).
If you have any open purchases - an active Guard Cover, an open alarm, or a callout in progress - close them first. Deleting your account doesn't cancel these.
2) No access to the app / need help
If you can't get into the app, or you'd rather someone handle it for you, email team@myguardz.com from the address on your account and ask us to delete it. A person answers. Include your account email and your mobile phone number. We may ask one question to confirm it's you before we delete anything.

What gets deleted, and what doesn't
Deleted immediately: your profile, your Circle and Household connections, and your alarm chat history.
Kept for a limited time: records we're required to keep for billing, fraud prevention, or legal reasons - for example, a record that Guard Cover was purchased and used. These are kept only as long as the law requires, then deleted.
